Left-arm-spinner Rangana Herath has been called
to replace injured spinner Ajantha Mendia for the forthcoming two Test
series against Bangladesh, Sri Lanka Cricket announced yesterday.
Herath, who came back to the side after a lapse of three years
early this year when Sri Lankan toured West Indies, was not initially
included in the squad for the Bangladesh tour. Herath was a part of Sri
Lanka A team s tour to South Africa where he performed well.
30-year-old Herath has played 13 Tests for Sri Lanka and has picked up 35 wickets at an average of 37.
